Expedite Neet Pg Counselling 2021

The Government of India couldn’t have possibly  done something more prize-worthy than this but I may be totally wrong since you never fail to surprise our community and your answer has either been silence or misuse of power to ensure silence! The detainment & arrest of my fellow doctors in view of the much required  protest to expedite Neet Pg counselling 2021 is probably yet another lifetime achievement of yours!

Why is it that whoever tries to awaken the system or change it gets killed? Why is it the Government tries to suppress anyone & everyone who voices their opinion which isn’t in sync with the politicians?

While the GOI  has failed to upgrade the crumbling healthcare system despite witnessing two covid waves with different challenges, it takes no time in issuing orders against doctors whose only “crime” is protesting peacefully for what is justified & need of the hour!

Isn’t it distressing already for the doctors who lost their entire year due to delay in Neet Pg 2021 exam which otherwise could have been done earlier that you have to add to their misery by delaying the already delayed counselling process too? You failed us then & you’ve failed us now again! While your rallies did not contribute anything significant to the society, a doctor’s helping hand in a pandemic certainty would have & will. Watch out for the third wave which is already happening as the healthcare force steps back!

If protesting peacefully to demand what’s right is equivalent to breaking the law or stepping over our Constitution, then what’s the difference between a democracy and a dictatorship? If we are not allowed to exercise our rights, what for did we elect you? If a pandemic hasn’t stirred up the Government to focus on the fragile, under-staffed & poorly structured healthcare system, I really don’t know if anything ever will.

The way Government & society have been reciprocating to our community makes me really wonder if I made the right choice and I’m sure a lot of us have asked ourselves time & again whenever such shameful acts have happened. I know in my heart & soul that I want to practice medicine and cherish it more than anything else in the world but I’m not sure if I want to practice in India any longer!

The Government has not only become deaf, dumb & blind to the plight & pleas of my exhausted fellow colleagues but has also managed to crush the spirits of those kids who dream of becoming future doctors.

For us, there’s no turning back & we continue to fight for what is justified- our request & demand to expedite Neet Pg counselling 2021. For the kids out there who still have a choice to make, I’d rather share my respected senior’s advice, “Zindagi chune, MBBS nahi.”

THE POISON IN OUR BONES

Disha Gahlot July 8, 2015  ·(Reposting from the older blog)  THE POISON IN OUR BONES By Disha Gahlot While the lecture on Toxicology was going on in our Forensic Medicine class, our professor asked us if there is anything in this world which we wouldn't call as poison? Meanwhile, some minds were pondering over the substances which would be totally harmless, to no avail. Nevertheless, he explained that if we drink water in excess, even that would be treated as a poison!! (Such profound words I swear!) Does it mean that our life hangs on the balancing tripod where excess or deficiency of something would be fatal? Shockingly yes!! As it goes, if you go to the extremes, even love kills! Well known, well searched and well gulped poisons like alcohol and drugs surely give a temporary high-out-of-the-world feeling but there are few less known poisons which the human race has embraced since ancient times (exaggeration is why spices were discovered!) Here it goes: 1) The HAT-wear...
What is it? By Disha Gahlot Ever heard about the unsung heroes in your life? Of course not, hence unsung! Not-so-similarly, a lot happens under the ground and it doesn't meet the eye even through your magnifying glasses! We have volcano, tornado, katrina and tsunami inside of us; it's just a matter of time when it chooses to be not-so-dormant at a certain point which manifests in the form of tragedies that we encounter during that phase. You see smiling faces, oh! you  see laughing faces, cheers!  you see a lot of faces, but do you see it?! One of those faces lost their mother last month, the second one broke up with his long-term girlfriend, the third one lost his job three days back, the fourth one got diagnosed with AIDS about two months back, the fifth one is just sitting in the corner wondering if he should live or commit suicide and the sixth one is getting married next month. Aha! Finally something to smile for, right? Well, he's getting married for the thi...

Are we women less than human?

Are we women less than human?   By DISHA GAHLOT A Part of me rebels, A part of me goes in denial mode, A part of me surrenders, while a part of me dies every time I witness a case of violence against women. Women, in different phases of the society, are being tortured for no reason. Are women personified as a pitiable figure? Is it the society's curse for women to be objectified, to be blamed, to be bullied, to be humiliated, to be molested, to be raped,.....to be.....,to be treated less than a human or is it the ignorance of the people of the society who sit and 'watch news in their free time' and fail to do anything about it? If just being aware about what's happening around the world makes you a wise person, then Congratulations, you deserve a noble prize for the surplus knowledge you have in your head about who raped who, when that murder case happened, where that wom...
